It has been more than a minute, right?
I’ll be brief because my mind is overwhelmingly on the midterms in the US and doing what I can. So here are two PSAs that I hope you will find helpful.
ineedana is an organization dedicated to helping people who need abortions get info about reproductive care with an easy-to-use website. Please pass along this address to any person you know of childbearing age who may need help with terminating a pregnancy, now or in the future. I have volunteered with them and can say they are absolutely committed to privacy.
For anyone also in the US, let us all hope for the best next week and let us take care of each other, no matter the outcome. If you know anyone on the fence about voting, or anyone who has grown cynical or despairing (understandable), please do what you can to encourage them. It is discouraging and we need systemic change desperately, but we don’t stand a chance of that with a Republican-controlled Congress. In fact, much of what we hold dear is at risk with a GOP takeover.
I’m also sharing some links that help me navigate the avalanche of news. The first two provide a critical look at the political landscape and political journalism; the third puts current events in historical perspective.
Good luck to all of us next week and I will get back to blogging soon.
